What information makes an RFQ useful?
A quote is only comparable when suppliers are pricing the same specification and commercial basis. Separate a target from a confirmed requirement, and list what is still open for the factory to propose.
| Information | What to provide | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Product references | Photos, technical pack or a reference sample; mark requested changes | Defines the development scope |
| Materials and construction | Upper, lining, footbed, outsole and finish requirements | Identifies the components to source or develop |
| Order breakdown | Pairs per style, color and size | Allows minimums and feasibility to be reviewed |
| Commercial brief | Destination, target price basis, timing and packaging | Avoids comparing different delivery or packing assumptions |
| Acceptance requirements | Sample approval, inspection criteria, tests and documents | Makes the approval and handover process explicit |
How do you move from sample to approved specification?
Agree what the first sample is intended to prove: appearance, fit, materials or a combination. When it arrives, gather feedback into one versioned revision list. Confirm the next sample or approved specification before committing to production.
If the design changes, reconfirm price, minimums and timing. Approval should identify the sample version, material references, artwork and any remaining conditions, rather than relying on an informal message saying the shoe looks good.
What if you do not have all the answers yet?
Send the details you have and label the unknowns. For example, describe the intended use and reference price range while asking the team to propose a material direction. The website's inquiry form starts the conversation; detailed reference images and technical files can be shared by email.
A 1,500–5,000-pair plan is more useful when broken down by style, color and size. If the volume is only an estimate, say so. This helps the factory distinguish a sourcing discussion from a confirmed purchase order.
What to send for a project review
- Company and destination market

- Upper, lining, outsole and fit requirements
- Branding, colors, sizes and packaging
- Estimated pairs per style and target price basis
- Sample purpose, revision process and expected timing
- Inspection, testing and documentation requirements
Questions buyers ask
How much does a footwear sample cost?
The sample fee depends on the style, materials, development work and number of samples. Send the brief and request the applicable fee and what it includes.
How long will sampling and production take?
Timing is confirmed after reviewing the specification, components, sample revisions and order plan. Obtain the agreed sample and production schedules before committing to a launch date.
Should I use the website form or email?
Use the form for the initial project summary. Email reference photos, artwork or a technical pack to 779618724@qq.com, identifying the same company and project so the team can connect the information.
